Bewani Oil Palm Plantations (BOPPL) and the West Sepik Provincial Health Authority (WSPHA) have further strengthened their partnership through the signing of a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) for the establishment of a Level 2 Community Health Post at Imbio, West Sepik Province, Papua New Guinea, on 27 March 2026.
The agreement marks a significant milestone in improving access to sustainable healthcare services for communities within the Bewani Oil Palm Project. It reflects the shared commitment of both BOPPL and WSPHA to enhance community wellbeing through meaningful collaboration and long-term investment in rural healthcare.
The MOA was officially signed between Mr. Goh Eng Seong, Executive Director of BOPPL and Mr. Stanley Masi, Chief Executive Officer of WSPHA, and witnessed by Mr. Jacob Areman, Provincial Administrator of West Sepik Province.
Under the partnership, the new health facility will provide essential frontline healthcare services, including basic medical treatment, preventive healthcare, maternal and child health support, and timely referrals to higher-level medical facilities in Vanimo when necessary. Once operational, the Level 2 Community Health Post at Imbio is expected to significantly ease challenges caused by distance and limited access to healthcare, ensuring nearby communities receive timely, reliable and quality medical care closer to home.
By combining institutional support, technical expertise and local engagement, BOPPL and WSPHA aim to create a healthcare service that is not only accessible and effective, but also sustainable for generations to come.
